Resumo: |
This work had as thematic the soil and groundwater contamination by fuel leaks at gas stations. This is a review study, but also based on the author's professional experiences. Among the main aspects studied, it is cited : (i) the subsurface features zones with different behavior when it comes to the contamination; (ii) ethanol in gasoline increases the solubility thereof, worsening their potential contamination; (iii) leaks from tanks , pipes and connections are the main causes of contamination by fuels; (iv) contamination is the fuel that causes more grid contamination listed by CETESB; (v) in-situ bioremediation is demonstrated how the technique of best value for the most diverse techniques of remediation of contamination, bacteria being the most commonly used agents; (vi) the technical management of gas stations and contaminated areas are systematized and standardized, and when applied correctly, have positive outcomes such as reducing accidents at stations and rehabilitation of contaminated areas. Thus, the main conclusions are that the knowledge of the subject is well advanced, with known potential contamination of compounds in fuels, sources and causes of contamination and procedures for managing gas stations and contaminated areas. What remains then is a better management of municipal bodies and a broad and deep reform of the structural problems of the country. |
