Resumo: The present study aimed to the realization of a diagnosis on the management of solid (MSW) in the city of Perivale / SC waste. The increasing population growth brings with it the need for increasing production and consumption. Along with this comes the problem of waste generation, particularly MSW. These wastes, if improperly disposed bring much harm to the environment and that are included in it, such as air pollution, water and soil resources, dissemination of vectors and disease, among other problems that get worse every day. At present, the concern with maintaining the conditions of the environment and future generations are matters of global focus, because several phenomena hitherto nonexistent began to appear and intensify as global warming, hurricanes, earthquakes, etc. During the research we analyzed qualitative and quantitatively the generation and management system profile, as there were also proposals and measures for improvement and / or adjustments. The gathering of information through observation in the field and processes and semi structured oral interviews resulted in data and information on the management of MSW involving the collection, scope and script collection , type and quantity of waste collected , packaging, transporting, sorting , allocation and form of waste management on the part of the population. Activities and processes developed by the company responsible for the collection of waste and organic waste as well as activities undertaken by the autonomic collector responsible for the selective collection of recyclable materials were followed. By conducting research and analysis, we can conclude that the urban population of the municipality of Perivale - SC, studied, produces 38,000 kg of MSW / month, ie 0.855 kg / capita / day , which is above the national average which stipulates 0.500 kg / capita / day for towns with up to 30,000 inhabitants. The profile of the management of MSW in the municipality of Perivale / SC system features a distinctive between the government and the population scenario, because the layout of the management system is consistent with the profile of the municipality, but the generation is not high and segregation still occurs correctly. The management of MSW by the company collecting and autonomic collector meets the needs and requirements of the municipality in all stages of the process, but there is a gap concerning the great production of this waste, which is currently above the national average.
