Due to the high incidence of oil spills in hydraulic press Company Masisa Brazil, this work focuses on proposing improvements for theflaws in reduction nipples of a hydraulic press using FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) tool. Through the application of FMEA can detect failures before theyoccur, reducing the chance of implementing corrective action and increased their lifespan. In Masisa company, no studies nipple to replace the gland reduction was conducted. Leak occurs every time there is a stoppage of production that generates a high cost. Through the FMEA identified that before replacing the nipple reduction is necessary to make a study on the type and characteristics of the press and also material on the nipple replaced. This study should be done safely using asa base theoretical references. It was identified that some operating procedures and design error are interfering in the life of nipple reduction. The company uses reduction nipples that are manufactured with materials that do not meet requirements according to international standard composition can use other reduction nipples that meet all the requirements and properties of the press and its process variables. The main recommendations identified in the study: Using material for the manufacture of the component-level non-metallic inclusions of fine grade and level 1 as the norm NM 88/2000 and also use materials with superior mechanical strength, ASTM standard can be used A182 grade F11 class 3. The second recommendation is to use when making the thread rolling process, promoting a region of plastic strain hardening, which benefits the use of the component, when used in cyclic stresses. The process of burr can be applied, but there must be control over the advancement in order to minimize the damage on the inner surface by deforming tool. As possibility of increasing the fatigue resistance, it is recommended to apply to steel grit blasting to obtain residual compressive stress at the free surface, especially in the region of the thread. Another recommendation is for the maintenance, pay attention to cleaning and handling procedures to avoid extra additional pieces of contamination. Special attention should be given to hoses because of the hydraulic lines is that it adds more pollution to the system. With the use of FMEA,these measures will be implemented safely decreasing the chances of the equipment or process fails. This helps to increase the knowledge of the equipment and the possible consequences of failures arising in the design process, ensuringthat the results of any failure, possibly still existing, will cause minimal damage. Thus, it meets the goal is to ensure the best sealability the cylinder of the press for a longer period of time using a nipple that fits the design of hydraulic press. |
