Resumo: The organizational culture is constituted by tensions and conflicts that occur between the internal actors in the medley of relations that characterizes an organization. Those elements, seen and unseen, represents the essence of the company, that is, the group of habits and values that all share. The very title of this study refers to the contents here treated. The role of the leaderships in the shaping of the behavioral culture of work security, where the leader plays a strategic role in any organization. Accountable in leading the teams, acting as fundamental connection between work and organizational goals. It’s up to them to influence the teams’ performance, with the focus on proactive management model, motivating safe behavior and using the best safety practices available for each activity. However, challenges and difficulties are present all the time, making that the management of operational routines focus in the modelling of safety work methods, integrated and oriented to the workers safety. At last, understanding the way of how things are done and hold the security culture in organizations. This work aims to develop a descritive study through field research with support of quantitative techniques, that involve statistical treatment, aiming to measure and test the hypothesis in question with the support and opinion of workers from five metal-mechanical industries, being one industry from each national region. In that way, the degrees of influence from the leaders as primary source of support for his subordinates’ work safety behavioral management, the necessary ability to motivate and inspire the safe behavior, where the caution with the safety of those involved and the correct management of the existents risks must be fundamental to the management’s model, aiming to the reduction of risk exposure and work accidents as well.
