Resumo: This study was based on the verification and adequacy of the lighting conditions of a metallurgical plant, using as reference NBR ISO/CIE 8995-1/2013. This standard defines the minimum average illumination for each environment according to the activity performed on site. For the analysis of the factory environment, the lighting levels were recorded at different locations along the production line and the insufficient light in the same area. Light engineering design calculations were performed using the lumen method, which describes the minimum number of luminaires for the room to be adequately illuminated, according to the reference note that identifies the light deficiency of the room. It has been proposed to improve the plant's energy efficiency by replacing current sodium vapor lamps with new, more energy efficient LED lamps. It was possible to predict the investment advantage analysis according to the payback calculation compared to the useful life of the selected LED luminaires. The results are promising, proving the viability of the project.
