A company that deals with international competitors has a demand on high quality of services offered, once it is a market with a wide competition. This paper work is about a comparison of the logistics costs and level of service to operationalize the logistics to export wood from Brazil to the United States in two different situations. A freight forwarder company provided data from a client that hires them instead of keeping an internal logistics structure, with dedicated labor force. Both situations are compared qualitatively and quantitatively, from the point of view of the Brazilian exporting company. The option of hiring a third party logistics agent proved to be more financially attractive, representing the lowest cost for the exporter. In the qualitative analysis, considering that the study was done in a small port exporter, an outsourcing also showed as the best option. The only disadvantage of hiring a logistics agent is the concentration of process information in a third party. |
