Resumo: Most of the machine tools used in machining require electrical power as the main power source. Therefore, the gauging of the energy spent on machining can be a tool to help users make more profitable management decisions. This work proposes a lowcost non-invasive monitoring system. Aiming to estimate the electrical current demanded, based on the variation of the cutting parameters in the end milling process of acrylic and expanded PVC. More specifically the proposed system consists of an Arduino® board integrated to a SCT-013-000 current sensor, a RTC-DS3231 module and an SD Card module, which perform the measurement and storage, respectively, of the current values collected directly from the power cable of the Spindle TVS Router. 1ZM3. 12. The data were treated statistically through the analysis of variance (ANOVA). Based on the statistical contrast it can be concluded that the factors have an effect on the current consumption and that the wear of the tool promotes an increase in the electric current consumption of the main motor.
