Resumo: The e-commerce sector is growing continuously and consolidating itself every day in our country. In 2018, Brazilian e-commerce revenues reached 53.2 billion reais, while between 2006 and 2016, the number of Micro and Small Enterprises (SMEs) grew 21.9%, resulting in 5 million new formal jobs at Brazil. Thus, for micro and small entrepreneurs this trade is emerging as an opportunity. The present work seeks to analyze which opportunities and challenges that microentrepreneurs need to know and face today to be inserted in this segment. Through a systematic literature review, it was possible to realize that the virtual market is a tool with great competitive advantage and great possibility of return. This market remains evolving and the entrepreneur demands a well-structured strategic, operational, financial and marketing planning. Barriers such as logistics management, taxation, limited connectivity, and low knowledge of e-commerce strategies need to be overcome for the industry to continue to grow steadily.
