Water loss causes dehydration and can cause serious health complications for Jiu Jitsu athletes because it is a sport practiced indoors and generates a high degree of physical effort. Thus, the study aimed to show the water behavior of Jiu Jitsu athletes during a training session. Ten competitors from the city of Curitiba PR, with an average age of 25.7 ± 5 years old, with more than two years of practice, graduated in blue, purple and brown bands, were included in the sample. For analysis of water behavior athletes were weighed before and after training. Pre- and post-training H2O loss was performed by whole body bioimpedance analysis. The results show a significant body weight loss (p˂0,0001) from pre to post workout condition of 1.68%. Body H2O in liters showed a significant loss (p <0.0367) of 0.82% from pre to posttraining. The results corroborate a water loss condition during a 90-minute Jiu Jitsu training session, indicating the need for effective hydration control of athletes. |
