The amount of garbage produced in the large cities has been growing every day, due to the factors such as the decrease in the life cycle of products, technology for production, the improvement in the quality of life of the population and the population growth itself. Due to this problem, companies, governments, and the organized society realized the need to seek alternatives to give a correct destination to the waste generated. The objective of this work was to report the actions taken by the government of São José dos Campos, a city located in the State of São Paulo through an exploratory and descriptive case study of the company Urbanizadora Municipal S/A – URBAM, created by the local government to be responsible for post-consumers waste logistics in the Municipality. The data collected will assist public managers in conducting the work related to the services of collection, transportation, and management of solid waste. In view of this, it was necessary to increase the environmentally friendly environmental awareness, in addition to demonstrating to the civil society of São José dos Campos that there are Voluntary Delivery Points, and that these should be used and not other places. |
