Resumo: Considering the increase on demand for electricity and the incentives received by the renewable energy producers, a research was carried out on the hydroelectric potential for the implantation of a hydroelectric generating plant in the county of Cascavel - PR, in order to determine the hydroelectric potential of the Rio Saltinho in the region of the Ponte Molhada, and point out possible turbine solutions to be installed in the project. In this regard, it was necessary to carry out topographic surveys, to delimit the drainage area to the site of the hydroelectric use and to carry out hydrological studies. Field studies were conducted following the methodology indicated by Eletrobrás, and using computer programs it was possible to determine the initial parameters for the implantation of a hydroelectric generating plant. Therefore, it was found that the drainage area for the site is 29,57 km², the gross fall height is 16,47 m, the steady flow 0,194 m³/s, resulting in a power of 21,73 kW and possibility to employ turbines type Banki and Francis, which imposes that this enterprise fits as a hydroelectric microcentral.
