Resumo: This work evaluates the compressive strength of concrete when applied in contact with a saturated medium, an example of this scenario is obtained in stakes applied in foundations. For this, an experimental program was proposed in which the concrete was inserted in a prototype, guaranteeing the contact of this material with the saturated medium during the period of 28 days, until the cured state was reached. Twelve concrete specimens were molded, six of which were placed in contact with a saturated medium, and the others, called control test bodies, immersed in a tank with water and lime, where they were cured as foreseen by NBR 5738 (ABNT , 2015). After the 28 days, and withdrawal of the samples from their respective environments of cure, the axial compression test was done using a hydraulic press on all specimens in order to compare the results obtained between them and to analyze the behavior of the concrete with cure performed in distinct environments when subjected to axial stress. The concrete used to make the test specimens obtained a certain proportionality between its elements in its production and did not suffer great losses of resistance. From the results, it can be concluded that the production of a concrete with a smaller water/cement factor, expecting it to use the water of the saturated medium as a kneading water, is not the ideal output for a scenario similar to that presented in the work. The alternative, in this case, is the application of a concrete that has cohesion between its elements and that does not require interference of the inserted medium on strength gain.
