Even with globalization and technological development involving practically all areas, there are still some biases in deciding to deploy new technologies to solve problems in the field of civil engineering, such as the use of permeable asphalts to alleviate flood occurrences, waterproofing systems to protect structures, solar energy systems in homes to generate electricity, among others. Therefore, it is necessary to present the benefits and explain how these new technologies can be much more beneficial compared to the common solutions. Thus, in order to make evident the importance of the technology called waterproofing system applied to structural systems, in the present study a specific case study of existing pathologies is presented mainly due to the lack of protection (waterproofing) of a slab exposed to weathering, such as rain, temperature change, wind, etc. In addition, some characteristics observed in this slab are shown through a technical visit and the advantages and disadvantages of two different solution measures to protect the slab of weather agents describedabove: Flexible waterproofing and Coverage. It is of great importance to present the types of solutions that can be deployed, in order to estimate which of them will present the best relation between cost and benefit to users, since they are commonly and naturally laymen in relation to this type of study. |
