Resumo: Many buildings and infrastructures require some special attention to the masonry and structural elements design. In many cases, this caution refers to the capability of the construction on withstanding gunfire from firearms. For that reason, this essay seeks to contribute on this field of protective engineer by experimentally analyzing the behavior of concrete slabs to the impact of high-speed projectiles. In order to achieve this goal, an experimental study was outlined, in which 12 concrete slabs were shaped and submitted to ballistic tests performed by the 16ª civil police subdivision and by the 11º military police battalion, both from Campo Mourão. Efficiency were evaluated through comparing the results of slabs with different levels of steel fibers and the results from slabs made from conventional concrete without any fibers. The result from this test showed that slabs with higher levels of steel fiber and hit by shots closer to the center of the sample had a best behavior. Therefore, the theory that the steel fiber would improve the slabs’ impact resistance was confirmed.
