Resumo: This work intends the relation between the novels Anguish (1936) by Graciliano Ramos and Notes from Underground (1864) by Fyodor Dostoyevsky and their historical context. The purpose is to investigate the similarity that the main characters demonstrate between them. Inspite the fact that the authors and the novels belong to different periods and countries, their dialogue is very clear. Luís da Silva representes a lost migrant in a urban world and the russian Underground Man represents a former-public employee outraged by the condition of an alianated life. Even though they have some differences, they both reflect the fragmented individuals from a corrupted society due to bourgeois values in which the money multiplies or diminish as the human being loses their identity.
