Resumo: The metal-composite joining topic has received increasing attention in recent years due to the desire to obtain optimized properties at different locations of a structure. This work presents a comparative study of the mechanical behaviour of different configurations of joints of carbon fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP) and aluminium using the glass fibre reinforcer polymer (GFRP) as insulation material, with the objective of verifying its influence on the mechanical properties of the joint. For this purpose, lap-shear tests were performed in four different configurations of couple: with and without GFRP and overlap of 50mm and 12.5mm. The galvanic corrosion tests used three types of configurations: with CFRP polymer sanding, without sanding and with GFRP. The sample groups with GFRP presented an average loss of 27% in its resistance against fracture and a reduction of 33% in its corrosion rate. Therefore, it is stated that the insulation improves the protection against corrosion but impairs the mechanical resistance of the joint.
