It is a storybook, winner of Prêmio Jabuti, in this category, in 2015. It is observed in this work that the writer exposes, with the use of a poetic language, the existence of women, especially those of black descent. In Olhos d’água, Conceição directs her focus of interest to the Afro-Brazilian population, critically narrating the poverty and urban violence that mainly involves women. Violence is a theme present in the three texts analyzed, especially in the social context in which the works are described. Occurring in many ways, violence presents itself symbolically as well as physical violence. Although urban violence is currently considered a nationwide problem, affecting all classes, the slum (favela) is the main space for violence to occur as a mechanism of male preponderance and as a survival strategy. In common, the three characters, Ana Davenga, Duzu-Querença and Maria, approach each other for physically and psychologically suffering violence that oppresses them in the violent environment of the city. All have their identities suppressed by men who nullify them. All are subjected to a masculine power that still reflects, in full contemporaneity, old marks of the patriarchal order. In short, the three characters have, in the condition of African descent and women, the trait that makes them sisters. A temática do presente estudo se inscreve no sentido de analisar a violência física e simbólica e a marginalização das figuras femininas afro-brasileiras nos contos “Ana Davenga”, “Duzu-Querença”, “Maria”, pertencentes ao livro Olhos d’água (2016), da escritora Conceição Evaristo. Trata-se de um livro de contos, vencedor do Prêmio Jabuti, nessa categoria, em 2015. Observa-se, nesta obra, que a escritora expõe, com o emprego de uma linguagem poética, a existência da mulher, especialmente a de ascendência negra. Em Olhos d’água, Conceição direciona o seu foco de interesse à população afro-brasileira, narrando, de forma crítica, a pobreza e a violência urbana que envolve sobretudo as mulheres. A violência é um tema presente nos três textos analisados, principalmente no contexto social no qual são descritas. Ocorrendo de várias maneiras, a violência se apresenta de forma simbólica, bem como de forma de violência física. Apesar de a violência urbana ser atualmente considerada um problema de amplitude nacional, atingindo todas as classes, a favela é o espaço principal para a ocorrência da violência como mecanismo de preponderância masculina e como estratégia de sobrevivência. Em comum, as três personagens, Ana Davenga, Duzu-Querença e Maria , aproximam-se por sofrerem no corpo e psicologicamente a violência que as oprime no ambiente violento da cidade. Todas têm a identidade reprimida por homens que as anulam. Todas são submetidas a um poder masculino que ainda faz repercutir, em plena contemporaneidade, antigas marcas da ordem patriarcal.
