Biopolymers, such as β-glucans, have aroused the interest of the pharmaceutical industry due to the various bioactive potentials and pharmacological properties they present. Lasiodiplodana (LAS) is a (1→6)-β-D-glucan type glucan, which is an exopolysaccharide (EPS) from the fungus Lasiodiplodia theobromae MMPI. The study developed in this project aimed to develop a cosmetic emulsion containing lasiodiplodana (0.125%) and to characterize it. The formulation developed was evaluated for stability (preliminary stability test), physicochemical parameters (pH, water activity (Aw), density and spreadability), microbiological parameters (mesophilic bacteria search, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, total coliforms). (35 ° C) and thermotolerant (45 ° C) and total mold and yeast count), and Sun Protection Factor (SPF). The antioxidant potential of the formulation was evaluated against DPPH radical sequestration activity and ferric ion reducing power (FRAP). The emulsion had a pH of 9.01, a relative density of 1.018 g cm-3, Aw of 0.93 and a spreadability between 1142.20 and 3207.63 mm2. The emulsion met the microbiological quality parameters for S. aureus, P. aeruginosa, total and thermotolerant coliforms, showed to present antioxidant potential, especially for the reduction of ferric ion (293.49 mmol L-1 of Ferrous Sulfate Eq. g-1), and presented low SPF (0.13343). The incorporation of bioactive demonstrated in this work enables the development of future studies for the bioactive and pharmacological potential of lasiodiplodana in cosmetic emulsions. |
