It is added to the economic context of the material its historical relevance in the south of Brazil where the techniques of the wooden constructions were largely used of the period of colonization being the wood explored until its exhaustion. These wooden constructions bring with them the cultural heritage of the immigrant people who have implemented and transformed them, producing an inheritance of the region. The constructive methods that stand out are a log house system of Polish origin, half-timbered by Germans and board-jointed, which were given by the existence of the wood cycle in the region and that made possible the modulation of the pieces - being a style of the region, generated by the different inheritances of European immigrants and other parts of the world, sharing the same structure each people employed their particular view on the method with constructive details and organization of rooms. Nevertheless, the houses in board and mat-junta fell in disuse and the idea was generated that the same would not be efficient. At the same time as in Brazil there was the development and consolidation of houses in wood frame in the USA, becoming the main form of construction for residential works. In view of this it is interesting to compare this possibility here, with the modern use of board houses and matta-junta with modern materials compared to wood frame. In order to evaluate this possibility the construction methods were studied and a model house was developed using the constructive methods in board and matte and in wood frame where the constructive way was compared, the change of material for reforestation wood and the resistance of the " pillars "to see if the change guarantees resistance and how it presents itself in relation to the American method. At the end, it was possible to analyze the difference between the systems, it is noticed that the house in wood frame is more elaborated for protection against weather and sealing, besides the different form of distribution of loads with smaller sizes and smaller spacings, having a almost linear load distribution with walls with structural function, whereas for the form used in the south of Brazil it needs stents with larger sizes and greater resistance in walls with a sealing function. In this context, when comparative analysis of a wooden model of wood board and kilt and wood frame is realized that both offer the attributes necessary to shelter human life nowadays. Thus, the Brazilian case makes it possible to recover its traditional technique by re-reading its system and design configuration. Com a crescente preocupação do emprego de métodos construtivos efetivos e ecologicamente eficientes, o uso de madeira surge como alternativa por ser um material que atua de forma a resgatar o carbono do ar e apresentar menor uso de energia em sua manufatura em relação a outros materiais. Soma-se ao contexto econômico do material sua relevância histórica no sul do Brasil onde as técnicas das construções em madeira foram largamente empregadas do período de colonização sendo a madeira explorada até sua exaustão. Essas construções em madeira trazem consigo a herança cultural do povo imigrante que aqui as implementaram e transformaram, produzindo uma herança própria da região. Os métodos construtivos que se destacam são sistema de casa de troncos de origem polonesa, enxaimel por alemães e tábua-junta, que se deram pela existência do ciclo da madeira na região e que possibilitaram a modulação das peças - sendo um estilo próprio da região, gerado pelas diferentes heranças de imigrantes europeus e de outras partes do mundo, compartilhando a mesma estrutura cada povo empregou sua visão particular sobre o método com detalhes construtivos e organização de cômodos. No entanto as casas em tábua e mata-junta caíram em desuso e se gerou a ideia de que as mesmas não seriam eficientes. Em momento paralelo ao ocorrido no Brasil houve o desenvolvimento e consolidação de casas em wood frame nos EUA, se tornando a principal forma de construção para obras residenciais. Diante disso é interessante comparar essa possibilidade aqui, com o emprego moderno de casas em tábua e mata-junta com materiais modernos em comparação a wood frame. Para avaliar essa possibilidade foram estudados os métodos construtivos e foi desenvolvido uma casa modelo usando os métodos construtivos em tábua e mata-junta e em wood frame onde foi comparado a forma construtiva, a mudança de material para madeira de reflorestamento e analisado a resistência dos “pilares” para verificar se a mudança garante a resistência e como se apresenta em relação ao método americano. Ao fim, foi possível analisar a diferença entre os sistemas, nota-se que a casa em wood frame é mais elaborada para proteção contra intempéries e vedação, além da diferente forma de distribuição de cargas com montantes de tamanho menor e menores espaçamentos, tendo uma distribuição de cargas quase linear com paredes com função estrutural, enquanto para a forma empregada no sul do Brasil necessita de esteios com tamanhos maiores e maiores resistências em paredes com função de vedação. Nesse contexto, ao realizar a análise comparativa de um modelo de casa de madeira de tábua e mata-junta e wood frame percebe-se que ambas ofertam os atributos necessários para abrigar a vida humana na atualidade.
