García-Canclini (2000) states that new technologies are possibilities for appropriation, experimentation and communication with more democratic uses that incite creativity and innovation. This more fluid circulation within society opens space for understanding and reworking meanings. The aim of this research is to reflect on the work of an artist from Curitiba, Eliane Prolik, considering the ways in which she problematizes the techniques and materials to reinvent the environment, the surroundings and the experience of the space. Her work emphasizes this hybrid and experimental character of the current production, allowing the construction of subjectivities and the dialogue with new perspectives of meaning through sculptures, objects and spatial interventions. Authors like Miller (2013) help to think the relationship between people and objects, the uses and the appropriations, by approaching the concept of material culture – the study of stuff. As an analysis strategy, Mauad’s analysis sheets (2005) and the image intercrossing proposed by Samain (2012) were used as basis. The research demonstrates the way in which contemporary production enhances the observer active participation, placing him as an active subject in the process of construction of meanings. A produção contemporânea constrói uma linguagem estética marcada por movimentos de deslocamento de função dos objetos e pela subversão de materiais para outros contextos diferentes dos usualmente previstos. García-Canclini (2000) afirma que novas tecnologias são possibilidades de apropriação, experimentação e comunicação com usos mais democráticos que incitam a criatividade e a inovação. Essa circulação mais fluída dentro da sociedade abre espaço para compreensão e reelaboração de significados. O objetivo desta pesquisa é refletir sobre a obra da artista plástica curitibana Eliane Prolik, considerando os modos como ela problematiza as técnicas e os materiais para reinventar o meio, o entorno e a vivência do espaço. Seu trabalho coloca em pauta esse caráter híbrido e experimental da produção atual, permitindo a construção de subjetividades e o diálogo com novas perspectivas de significação através de esculturas, objetos e intervenções espaciais. Autores como Miller (2013) ajudam a pensar a relação entre as pessoas e os objetos, os usos e as apropriações, pela abordagem do conceito de cultura material – o estudo dos trecos. Como estratégia de análise utilizou-se como base as fichas de análise de Mauad (2005) e o entrecruzamento de imagens proposto por Samain (2012).
