Resumo: |
The use of illustration to represent nature has occurred since the beginnings of humanity, with the use of drawing and painting to document the plant and animal species relevant to man's survival. The scientific illustration is defined as a drawn image that displays rigor, correctness and objectivity in the transmitted message, always in the domain of scientific knowledge and within the state of patent science and in a given period. Scientific illustration is a widely used tool for Science and Biology Teaching, and several studies have shown the effectiveness in facilitating understanding and learning. There is evidence that students, as well as people in general, show little attraction for the botanical themes, preferring the study of animals; however, there are no studies that address how this tendency impacts scientific production on scientific illustration applied to teaching. This work aimed to analyze, by means of scientometric tools, the representativeness of themes related to Botany in academic works that employ scientific illustration in Science and Biology Teaching. For this, a research was carried out delimited by the combination of the terms: “scientific illustration”, “Science Teaching” and “Biology Teaching” (in Portuguese) in widely used databases, followed by the screening and subsequent analysis of the material obtained. It was observed that scientific production, although relevant, is not abundant, with a total of 46 academic papers and, with great possibilities for the expansion of studies in the area, given the benefits that scientific illustration can add to teaching. It was found that topics related to Botany are frequently addressed, including one of the strategies suggested by several authors to face the botanical blindness, as well as a useful tool to reframe and make the Botany Teaching more attractive to students. |
