Realizing that change must start early, this research has as its theme Environmental Education in Early Childhood Education with the objective of getting to know this reality, and to analyze how schools have been working with students on this theme, whether in formal or non-formal education, and what are the developments for the child to truly become a subject of law and participatory in this socioeconomic and environmental context. Documental analysis was used with the proposal of knowing these aspects, gathering data, knowing the local and global reality, and the results of these actions in schools in different localities of our country. The results observed refer us to small advances in legislation and in the application of projects aimed at sustainability, observed through inclusion in the PPP or even the subjects/projects worked on in schools. On the other hand, the objective to be achieved comes up against a lack of specific training in Environmental Education, inadequate remuneration of teachers and school staff in inadequate buildings, bureaucratic issues and the human common sense that it is better to consume unrestrainedly than to resign the use of things. The task at hand is to break this consumerist paradigm and demands a collective and articulated work of teachers, school staff, parents and the community in general. This mutual relationship of respect for oneself, the other, and the planet is the path to be pursued. Nos dias atuais percebemos que a relação homem-natureza está em desequilibro, e que esse debate vem sendo construído desde a década de 60, ou seja, do século passado, visto que o homem começa a perceber que os recursos naturais não são tão abundantes, e que isso poderia colocar em risco a sua própria sobrevivência. Percebendo que a mudança deve começar desde cedo, a presente pesquisa tem por tema Educação Ambiental na Educação Infantil com o objetivo de conhecer essa realidade, e analisar como as escolas vêm trabalhando com os alunos essa temática, seja na educação formal ou não-formal, e quais os desdobramentos para que a criança se torne verdadeiramente um sujeito de direito e participativo nesse contexto socioeconômico e ambiental. Foi utilizada análise documental com a proposta de conhecer esses aspectos, levantar dados, conhecer a realidade local, e os resultados dessas ações nas escolas de diferentes localidades de nosso país. Os resultados observados nos remetem a pequenos avanços na legislação e na aplicação de projetos voltados a sustentabilidade, observados através da inclusão no PPP, ou até mesmo os assuntos/projetos trabalhados nas escolas. Em contrapartida o objetivo a ser alcançado esbarra na falta de formação específica em Educação Ambiental, na remuneração inadequada dos professores e equipe escolar nas edificações inadequadas, nas questões burocráticas e no senso comum humano que é melhor consumir desenfreadamente do que resignificar o uso das coisas. A tarefa posta é a quebra desse paradigma consumista e demanda um trabalho coletivo e articulado de professores, equipe escolar, pais e comunidade em geral.
