This paper aims to show the contribution of internal auditing as a tool for a better management of inventories, showing the reasons that made the company use this practice and the results achieved. Audit concepts and definitions will be presented, describing their origin, types, objectives, auditor role and how it can positively involve inventory management. The method used was a bibliographical research, accompanied by a case study, through interviews and documentary analysis, for greater understanding and enrichment on the subject addressed.
