Resumo: Fundamentally, the term credit - from the latin creditum, "confidence or security in the truth of something, belief / reputation, good fame" - identifies a relationship of trust between two or more parties in a given operation. The present research aims to argue why credit and working capital credit lines are relevant in an economy. The assumption is that it is credit that enables investment, an economic developer, and that credit allows individuals to move out of poverty, and that credit provides greater social welfare in a market economy. Thus, this work aims to differentiate and conceptualize Commercial Banks, Financial Institutions and Credit Cooperatives, these bodies are members of the National Financial System and conceptualize the credit lines available to entrepreneurs. The conclusions were based on data obtained from different sources of research, which provided the achievement of the proposed objectives. The results of this research show that among the analysed financial institutions, the one that has more advantageous credit lines still is Sicredi, because in the December 2017 rank, it appears in the first place, in three products, among the five analysed ones: guaranteed account, checks discounts and overdrafts.
