Resumo: Due to the growing development of large cities, population accumulation is inevitable and verticalization is one of the alternatives, given the lack and high values of land in these regions. In buildings, the efforts produced by wind loads are often preponderant in structural design. In Brazil, the NBR 6123 standard (ABNT, 1988) supported three methods for calculating wind efforts, the static method, the simplified method and the discrete method. In undergraduate courses in Civil Engineering, only the static method is approached. Each method considers static and dynamic aspects of the structure differently thus leading to different values for the wind loads. The objective of this work was to compare wind loads, displacements and maximum internal forces on the columns of a 21storey building, by applying the loads determined by the three methods. The results obtained showed that the static method was more conservative than the other methods in the internal forces obtained.
