Resumo: The waste generated in civil construction is a topic widely discussed in the technical environment, as it causes several environmental problems, especially when disposed of improperly. Therefore, there is a need to find new technologies to replace conventional systems that minimize the generation of waste and consequently result in cost savings for the builder. In addition, due to the housing deficit, it is necessary to implement faster construction techniques, including the Drywall system. Thus, this work aims to compare the generation of waste and the total cost of construction of a residential building with the possibility of using masonry or plasterboard as an internal seal and analyzing the acceptance of the Drywall system by the technical community through of a questionnaire. For the quantification of waste, tables provided by project partner companies and other studies already carried out were used. Costs were determined using spreadsheets provided by the Caixa Econômica (SINAPI) and with budgets from local companies. The use of the Drywall system has shown promise in replacing masonry, since the generation of waste plasterboard is low compared to masonry, about 19%. In addition, it can be seen that the use of this technology has provided economic gains of at least 28.3%, this saving is mainly due to the cost of labor minimized by the reduction of execution time. In research with the technical community it was possible to notice that this technology is on the rise, however, it is necessary to assess the real acceptance of consumers of residential developments.
