This research aimed to identify the influence of the meaning of money on the choice of undergraduate course in freshmen from a public HEI in the southwestern region of Paraná. It is classified as a survey research, descriptive and quantitative approach. 390 questionnaires were applied based on the ESD-Money Meaning Scale by Moreira and Tamayo (1999), which left 367 validated questionnaires. The data analysis method used was Factorial Analysis and Multinominal Logistic Regression. Being identified the components of ESD: power, detachment, suffering, inequality and culture. For accounting students, the meaning of money is explained by the components of conflict, culture, detachment, inequality, power, progress, and suffering. Agronomy course the power and progress components, in the Civil Engineering course the attributions of conflict and power. In the Mechanical Engineering course only for the inequality component. Academics of the Letters course with attributions of the components culture, detachment and suffering. For those of mathematics detachment and ending with chemistry course the components power and suffering. Thus identifying the existence of different perceptions about the meaning of money between the courses analyzed. |
