This monograph aims to briefly address the historical contexto of Environment and Environment Education, as well as the Conferences held between countries at different times thinking about the preservation of the Environment, seeking in Education a conscious formation of the human being in relation to environmental problems, to solve them. Environmental Education emerges as a proposal for sustainable development, however when faced with this theme, it is noticeable the lack of preparation of teachers, as well as the mistaken approach regarding Environmental Education, in viem of not being a discipline and being remembered in most sometimes only on commemorative
dates, and therefore should be worked on in na interdisciplinary way. Its objective is to inform the school and nonschool community at the same time that it contributes to the quality of life of the whole society in the long and short term, when possible. The teaching of Environmental Education proposes a new thinking about normalized attitudes in everyday life, the formation of conscious individuals, ideas for sustainable development being put into practice. The approach of this theme in the school context must occur with responsibility for the commitment of not treating Environmental Education as a discipline, but through projects, studies, comparisons, experiences, or other innovative ideas, involving the importance and quality of the Environmental for the survival of all living beings. Thus, teachers must be prepared to work wifh
Environmental Education in na interdisciplinary way, presenting environmental problems to students, exposing educational practices to understand the theme, developing solutions for the local reality of the community where the student is inserted. The referred monograph is a set of bibliographic researches in articles published to elaborate and explain concepts about the Environment and Environmental Education, as well as its historical context and the theme inserted in the interdisciplinary school scope. |
