Resumo: The logging industry is one of the sectors with the highest incidence of occupational accidents, however companies are often more concerned with their economic health and disregard worker safety. Even worse is the scenario of small businesses, where there is no obligation for a safety engineer, although many activities within the sector present a high risk of accidents. However, Preliminary Risk Analysis (ARP) is an affordable tool that investigates the risk factors associated with each system process and can be easily applied to small timber industries. In view of this, based on a bibliographic research associated with a case study, the work identified and evaluated the risks existing in a woodworking shop in the interior of the state of São Paulo, from the identification of the risks present in wood processing activities. and, classification of risks as to frequency and severity. In order to carry out the preliminary risk analysis, a questionnaire was applied to one of the company's employees. With the analysis, it was possible to infer that there is no need to make large investments to ensure a safe working condition, but to apply training and promote awareness. of employees. However, it was found that most of the rich identified could be minimized by using personal protective equipment.
