Resumo: Strategic production management is a fundamental principle for organizations' financial success, and having the vision and control of company data results in increasingly assertive decision making. In view of customer demand and the focus on continuous improvement of production processes and consequently the reduction of defects, we sought to investigate the stability and variability by analyzing the process capability level of the studied company. Having this information in hand, a simple and exemplified control method was applied to the daily management of the production team. Thus, this article aims to use the statistical control of the production process for quality management applied to an electronic equipment manufacturer. The research is characterized as a case study, applying the primary and secondary data collection techniques. To achieve the objective, data collection was performed using the defect history and defect types of a product model. The application of this study was restricted to only one segment of products currently assembled in the company. The chosen segment refers to the equipment that is used for truck screening. The name of the company studied and the specific customer were preserved.
