Resumo: The relevance of skills development by students is notorious for the purpose of seeking more knowledge and assertiveness in entering the labor market. Consequently, the Junior Enterprise Movement brought a proposal based on this reality, based on the application of theory in practice at universities as a way to complement the qualification of future professionals. Thus, this work aims to discuss the importance of the role of Vulcano Junior Enterprise (JE) in the formation of the Mechanical Engineer at UTFPR-PG and analyzes whether the skills developed by its graduates along their trajectory at JE meet the requirements expected by the labor market. In this context, a literature review was carried out in order to identify the main skills that the Mechanical Engineer needs to possess and how the JE´s are contributing to this professional qualification. In order to carry out this research, the methodology of this work included interviews with two main groups: (i) former junior entrepreneurs from JE Vulcano who were working in the labor market and (ii) managers. The analysis of the results obtained with the interviews points out what are the expectations of the labor market regarding the profile of the Mechanical Engineer, what is the relevance of participation in Junior Enterprise for the professional qualification of its graduates and presents the skills most required by the managers of the labor market : Communication, Proactivity, Group Work, Critical Thinking and Strategy; and the most developed in the Junior Enterprise: Communication, Proactivity, Group Work, Flexibility and Management / Leadership; evidencing the relationship between the skills developed in the Junior Enterprise, with the expectations of the labor market towards the Mechanical Engineer. Thus, it becomes clear the importance of joining the Junior Enterprise to complement the professional qualification of the Mechanical Engineer, according to what the labor market expects from this professional. It is also evident the necessity for adjustments in the academic training provided by the subjects of the course offered by the university, adapting the qualification of Mechanical Engineers with greater practical workload, contact with companies, and projects that promote the practical application of knowledge and develop interpersonal skills, as well as a Junior Enterprise proposes, in order to prepare them for reality and not just in the theoretical field.
