Resumo: This work presents an economic analysis of the installation of photovoltaic panels in a 100 m² home in the city of Guarapuava-PR. The photovoltaic system used for the residence was connected to the grid (on grid), where the generated energy is discharged into the municipal electric energy distribution network. The sizing of the system was based on a model house of 100 m² occupied by a family composed of four people. Then, the cost of installing the system was estimated. Finally, an economic analysis was carried out using the financial tools, Payback, Discounted Payback, Net Present Value (NPV) and Internal Rate of Return (IRR). The results showed good profitability even with conservative assumptions, such as not increasing the energy tariff. The IRR obtained was 23.67%, which surpassed the stipulated TMA (Minimum Rate of Attractiveness) of 10%. Photovoltaic panels have already been on the market for a few years, and even though Brazil has a high photovoltaic potential, it still uses little of this technology. In 2019, only 1.9% of Brazilian electricity generation was provided by photovoltaic energy.
