Resumo: This study aimed to study the soils from Palmas-PR region, considering that the soils in this region are extremely acidic and have high levels of aluminum, contrasting strongly with the surrounding soils. From a geological view point, this region is formed by acid rock spills, consisting basically of Riolitos and Riodacitos of the member Palmas. In this sense, this study aimed to study the morphology and chemistry of the soil and the relationship of these variables with lithology and environmental factors. Six samples of soil profiles representative of the region were collected and mapped and characterized morphologically. A sample of each horizon of the collected profiles was sent to the laboratory for chemical analysis of the assortment soil complex. Horizon B samples, when present, were deferrified and organized in slides oriented for mineralogical analysis by X-ray spectroscopy. Analysis of the mineralogy of the rocks were carried out in powder blades. The results show that less developed soils occur in regions of higher altitude and greater declivity. The highest levels of Al, as well as the high acidity of the soil may be associated with the inheritance of the source material - Riolites and Riodacites in whose mineralogical assembly minerals rich in aluminum were observed, such as Feldspars, Kaolinite and Gibbsite.
