As a result, indoor vertical farm with artificial lighting has recently developed. To develop an economic and nutritional importance of the strawberry, this work aimed to analyze the initial growth of the strawberry in an exclusive internal regime of artificial lighting provided by light emitting diodes (LED). The experiment was conducted in an indoor environment monitored daily, where strawberries of the cultivar San Andreas were grown under LED light, for plant cultivation practices, in a passive hydroponic production system on overlapping shelves. Weekly rates were calculated as absolute and relative growth rates (TCA and TCR), through the leaf area and counted or the average number of leaves per plant. The experimental design used was completely random. The data were submitted to analysis of variance. There was a significant variation in TCA, which decreased over time. A variation over time in the TCR was not significant, but it showed a tendency to increase leaf area under unit of accumulated leaf area. The average number of leaves per plant did not vary, reproduced, over time, but it was possible to verify a trend in the number of leaves followed by a reduction. The growth of the strawberry under the conditions of production of the work, analyzed with absolute and relative growth rate, was not significant, although a parametric tendency was observed at the beginning of the experiment, which indicates an increase in the gradual leaf area until the determined period time, when, from then on, average growth seems to cease. The quality of the strawberry leaf area did not follow the standard expected for sadistic strawberries. A expectativa do aumento populacional e do aumento da demanda por alimentos para as próximas décadas, requerem novas formas de se produzir alimentos que sejam mais eficientes e menos prejudiciais ao meio ambiente. Por conta disso, a agricultura vertical indoor, com iluminação artificial, surgiu recentemente. Considerando a importância econômica e nutricional do morango, este trabalho teve o objetivo de analisar o crescimento inicial de morangueiro indoor sob regime exclusivo de iluminação artificial provida por diodos emissores de luz (LED). O experimento foi conduzido em um ambiente de cultivo indoor monitorado diariamente, onde foram cultivados morangueiros da cultivar San Andreas sob luz de LED específicos para cultivo de plantas, num sistema de produção semi-hidropônico em bancadas sobrepostas. Foram calculadas, semanalmente, as taxas de crescimento absoluto e relativo (TCA e TCR), através da área foliar, e contabilizado o número médio de folhas por planta. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi completamente ao acaso. Os dados foram submetidos à análise de variância. Foi verificada uma variação significativa da TCA, que foi diminuindo ao longo do tempo. A variação ao longo do tempo da TCR não foi significativa, mas mostrou uma tendência de acréscimo de área foliar sob unidade de área foliar acumulada. O número médio de folhas por planta não variou, significativamente, ao longo do tempo, mas foi possível verificar uma tendência de amento do número de folhas seguida por uma redução. O crescimento do morangueiro sob as circunstâncias de produção do trabalho, analisado com a taxa de crescimento absoluto e relativo, não foi significativo, apesar de ter sido observado uma tendência paramétrica no início do experimento que indicava um aumento da área foliar gradativo até determinado período de tempo, quando, a partir de então, o crescimento médio aparente cessou.
