Resumo: Thiswork aims to understand and highlight some of the challenges faced by students at a public school in Greater São Paulo. For this purpose, a predominantly qualitative approach was used, based on a semi­structured research carried out in a focus group, thatis, 3rd year students. The passage of the student through high school is permeated by difficulties, among which stand out the lack of structure and resources, the lack of interest of the students, whether due to physical tiredness or the lack of perspectives for the future. Nevertheless, the distance from the university, whether public or private, in addition to the lack of dissemination of existing opportunities, makes higher education a reality often distant for most of these students.
