This study presents researches and reflections on public management, competencies, leadership and their theoretical correlations. In Brazil, public administration has been transformed over the years, and currently seeks to focus on the development of staff skills, especially with the policy of training and development of people instituted by Decree 5,707 / 2006. In this context, public managers must follow the changes and develop relevant competencies to achieve the expected results. Therefore, the purpose of the present research is to investigate and analyze the view of administrative technical servers of a public higher education institution (UTFPR - Câmpus Pato Branco) on the most important competences for leadership in public management. The instrument used to collect data from the servers was a questionnaire, listing competences in three groups (knowledge, skills and attitudes), and it was possible to identify those considered more important by them. The results showed that are prioritized the knowledge related to the routine of activities, the abilities to lead the group, and the attitudes that the leader reflects in his relationship with the team. It is hoped that the results extracted from this study may be useful to the administration of the researched institution, which may use them to plan actions aimed at training and development of managers. |
