Resumo: This paper has as its theme to address the occurrence of the halter vote in the current elections, comparing these remnants of the Old Republic with the vote negotiations, analyzing the construction of universal suffrage and the laws that establish rules in order to guarantee a good conduct during the elections. elections. This work aimed to make young voters aware of their rights as citizens to choose the candidate who can best govern as well as their duties as an active citizen in society, and should therefore inspect and charge their political representatives. The methodology adopted in carrying out this work was conducted based on bibliographic research in books, articles and national laws which deal with the halter vote policy, and a brief descriptive survey of the characteristics of voters who negotiate their vote, the laws that guarantee the right to secret ballot and those that establish punishments for cases of electoral fraud. As a pedagogical proposal, the cartoon was used as an example of teaching methods, specifically for the teaching of history. Using the cartoon as a teaching methodology, what is expected with this resource is to make an analytical reading on the theme “halter vote” as a remnant of the First Republic, awakening in students the awareness of the power of a vote and the teacher the importance of seek new teaching resources and methods to be practiced in the classroom.
