The use of new construction techniques takes place through the need to address certain recurring disadvantages of the use of the traditional construction system, one of which is related to the use of reinforced concrete using steel bars, which are related to corrosion of reinforcement, the exposure of structures to aggressive environments and electromagnetic fields. Thus, this work compares the design regarding the bending of reinforced concrete beams using steel bars and non-metallic bars, an end of sense to what extent it is feasible to use them. Thus, 22 beams were designed, 4 reinforced with CA-50 steel bars that were used as a basis for calculating the moments for comparison, an attempt was made to dimension these so that they would enter in Domain 2 and Domain 3 of the rectangular voltage diagram of NBR 6118 (2014). For the other beams, the design followed the recommendation of ACI 440.1R - 15, as there is no current standard in Brazil for their design. CFRP bars (polymers reinforced with carbon fibers), GFRP (polymers reinforced with glass fibers), and AFRP (polymers reinforced with aramid fibers) were used for the calculations. As a result, it is perceived the need to use a higher reinforcement ratio when fiber reinforced polymers are used to obtain the same moment resistance value of reinforced concrete beams reinforced
with steel bars. |
