Resumo: With the expansion of the Brazilian real estate market, it became necessary to implement innovative and practical products related to the field of civil construction. Among these methods, the technique of thin joints using polymeric mortar for structural purposes aims at ease of execution. Polymeric mortar for laying masonry is available on the market ready to use, as it is a non-cement compound and does not require the addition of water at the construction site. The work presents a case study with the application of this method in a building located in the state of São Paulo, describes the advantages and difficulties of using this alternative in relation to the use of conventional mortar. Among those found, the process of modulation and paging of the structural masonry stands out, in addition, there were problems related to the blocks, which have dimensional irregularities that hinder the use of polymeric mortar. The advantages found with the application of the polymeric mortar technique were mainly in the sphere of sustainability, where there was a reduction in the use of energy, water, less extracted raw material (absence of cement and sand), and a lower volume of civil construction waste to create.
