Resumo: This study aims to understand how the relationship between rationality and work organization takes place in the context of street art. Specifically, it seeks to describe aspects of rationality present in each artist, describe the way of organizing the interviewees’ work and analyze the relationship between rationality and the form of work organization, in the context of street art. The object of this study is the form of work organization, in light of the rationalities of the artists: Ademir Antunes; Eduardo Marinho; Markos Paullo and Leonir Carvalho de Lima, who approach the characteristics of non-conventional forms of work, therefore, distinct from the dominant organizational model. This is narrative research, with qualitative strategy, inductive orientation and exploratory descriptive purpose. First, the researched ones and their respective trajectories were presented, aspects that led each artist to abandon the conventional work model and adhere to work in the street space were described. It also addressed the rationality of work in street art and how it reveals itself in the way artists organize their respective work. Then, the data was analyzed in a comparative form, based on the main evidence found. The study also presented relationships between rationality and the organization of work in street art and finally promoted a discussion with theory. Theoretical basis was sought in critical studies of administration, which question the predominance of the dominant organizational model, as an ideal type, above all, given the current scenario of labor crisis, given the notorious insufficiency and contradictions of the dominant organizational model, given the social differences. The results allow us to glimpse the street as a production space, through which it is possible to search for alternative forms of work organization, in this case specifically, through art, based on the rationality that leads to change and guides values such as freedom, learning, recognition, self-esteem and satisfaction, which is revealed in the way of organizing the work, through autonomy and authenticity. It should be noted, however, that there is no evidence to indicate the dominance of one or another type of rationality that characterizes work in street art, as well as there are no standards, techniques and/or models to be followed, therefore, it cannot be reduced street work to a signifier. Thus, it can be concluded that the street is an alternative workspace that reveals different forms of rationalities, whether through the instrumental or substantive relationship, through the tension of the diversities between these relationships.
