The presente work aimed to identify suitable areas for the implementation of irrigation by central pivot in the county of Montes Claros, located in the northern region of Minas Gerais. For such evaluation, a GIS environment was used through the QGIS software. The considered data were slope, hydrography, type of soil and land use and occupation, and then each class received the necessary treatment to weighing the suitability regarding the implementation of the irrigation method. By the methodology of multicriteria analysis, the four factors were considered in a correlated way in order to classify the areas in level of aptitude. The high aptitude class represented 32.52% of the total area considered, as well as medium aptitude 26.82%, low aptitude 6.95% and disability 33.71%, thus concluding that the municipality has 66.29% of areas suitable to receive irrigation by central pivot. |
