The experimental design used was completely randomized, with treatments in a 4x2 factorial arrangement (four stages of grain development with or without grain processing), using five replications. It was used an area of 0.5 ha with black oats (Avena strigose Schreb) with sowing density was 110 kg of seed/ha was used. The culture had fertilization according to the soil analysis of the predecessor culture. The grains were harvested in the pasty, hard floury, and hard with Jhon Deere STS 9570 harvester. The grains harvest in the last (hard) stage were divided into two piles, where divided into two piles, where one was kept whole and the other was processed in a electric crusher, half from each of the hills they were rehydrated with 45,7% water. In each harvest season, therefore, two heaps (with and without crushing) of approximately 8 kg were formed. After this stage the material was ensiled in experimental silos. The experimental silos were made in plastic bags (20 microns) with a capacity of 1 kg. The establishment of anaerobiosis and sealing was performed with the aid of an Industrial Vacuum Packing machine (model GS620F). After 45 days of silage, the experimental silos were opened and the characteristics of water activity, electrical conductivity, pH, dry matter losses and aerobic stability were evaluated. The wet grain silage of black oats presents better conservation when the grain is crushed. The rehydration of the black oat grain in the hard stage improves the fermentative aspects of the grains and can be an alternative for the ensiling of the black oat grain. O presente estudo objetivou avaliar a silagem de grão úmido de aveia preta em diferentes épocas de colheita e/ou reidratado com ou sem o processamento dos grãos. O delineamento experimental foi inteiramente casualizado, com os tratamentos em arranjo fatorial 4x2 (quatro estágios de desenvolvimento do grão com ou sem o processamento dos grãos), utilizando-se cinco repetições. Foi utilizada uma área de 0,5 ha com aveia preta (Avena strigosa Schreb) com densidade de semeadura de 110 kg de semente/ha. A cultura teve adubação de acordo com a análise de solo e cultura antecessora. Os grãos foram colhidos no estágio pastoso, farináceo duro e duro com colhedora modelo John Deere STS 9570. Os grãos colhidos no último estágio (duro) foram divididos em dois montes, onde um foi mantido inteiro e o outro foi processado em triturador elétrico, metade de cada um dos montes foram reidratados com 45,7% de água. Em cada época de colheita, portanto, foram formados dois montes (com e sem triturar) de aproximadamente 8 kg. Após esta etapa o material foi ensilado em silos experimentais. Os silos experimentais foram confeccionados em sacos plásticos (20 micras) com capacidade de 1 kg. O estabelecimento da anaerobiose e vedação foi efetuado com auxílio de uma máquina Industrial de Embalar a Vácuo (modelo GS620F). Após 45 dias de ensilagem, os silos experimentais foram abertos e foram avaliadas as características de atividade de água, condutividade elétrica, pH, perdas de matéria seca e estabilidade aeróbica. A silagem de grão úmido de aveia preta apresenta melhor conservação quando o grão é triturado.
