Resumo: As the job market demands more and more abilities and skills from the professional in their full capacity, it is necessary to find ways to prepare the recently formed engineer. The internship is a way to do this and the job rotation format can improve the acquired experience and effectively help their future performance in the job market. Thus, the main objective of this paper is to describe the job rotation format internship in a multinational company so as to show the impacts of this format in the academic experience of the production engineer students. To this effect, a theoretical reference about production engineering and its fields of action, the expected abilities and skills and the profile of the recently formed production engineer, the mandatory internship, and job rotation was compiled. Besides, the job rotation internship program developed and applied in a multinational company was described, detailing the selection and recruitment of the interns, the development stages of the company’s internship model and how the performance assessment is done. A satisfaction survey was also conducted with the production engineering students of UTFPR who participated in the internship program. From the obtained results, it was possible to observe that the job rotation internship format supports the multidisciplinary formation of the production engineer and the interns found great use and had full satisfaction from the program.
