Resumo: The dynamic characterization of materials and parts is an important step in mechanical systems designs subjected to vibrations. One kind of material widely used on such systems are polymers. This paper objective is to stablish one methodology to characterize the elastic modulus (E) and loss factor (η) to a polymeric material using finite element method (FEM) and numerical optimization. The proposed methodology uses experimental tests of frequency response function in analysis and models adjustments to determine the dynamic properties. This model adjustment was made using finite element method and optimization routines implanted with Matlab software. The comparison from the results obtained from this proposition with the results obtained using standard ASTM E756-5, lead to satisfactory results as to optimizing the elastic modulus. Therefore, it’s verified that this proposition is a viable alternative for the identification of dynamic properties of polymeric materials.
