Nanotechnology has been considered the centerpiece in what economists call the fourth Industrial Revolution, as it stands out for its multidisciplinarity, and fits into the group of converging technologies, due to interaction and cooperative combination between different areas of knowledge Despite looking like a recent technology, it is much older than one can imagine, Nanotechnology has been applied since the Middle Ages, but the alchemists who used these nanoparticles did not have the knowledge of what they were and that they would be studied many years later. From the construction of the Scanning Tunneling Microscope, which allowed evaluating new structures that could not be analyzed due to the technological limitations of the time. Recently, Nanotechnology has been disseminated throughout the world, with promises of a better quality of life and practicality for the human being's daily life. However, little is discussed about the dangers that nanotechnology can offer, as for the health of the worker as of the consumer, and also for the environment, due to the diverse global risks that cross borders. Not to mention the absence of specific scientific, legal or social legislation regarding to Nanotechnology in Brazil and the rest of the world. The study aims to carry out a bibliographical survey of the applications, risks and future perspectives of nanotechnology in the environment. The methodologies adopted were the 5W2H tools with GUT and QCA prioritization, for the purpose of obtaining the sixteen mai topics for the Literature Review. The result of the study is not intended to exhaust the subject, but to provide evidence: On the recent and unpublished pre-approved Bill Nº. 880, which is still deserving of some additions and changes, in order to contribute exclusively to a more qualified as an extremely important subject, which is Nanotechnology. About the great risks that nanomaterials pose due to their properties and behaviors so diverse that it is impossible to make a generic assessment of their damage to health and the environment. The society to be more participatory in the process, which is practically null even due to lack of knowledge about Nanotechnology. On the subject and the negligence on the part of the public sector regarding the few resources destined to the impacts of Nanotechnology. Environmental Engineering is responsible for continuously evaluating the development of technologies from the point of view of their potential risk, seeking alternatives and solutions that minimize or eliminate possible damage to the environment or health. Nanotecnologia, é uma ciência inovadora que engloba muitas áreas de pesquisa e manuseio de objetos medidos em nanômetros, que são equivalentes à bilionésima parte de um metro, e com a capacidade de manipular átomos e moléculas a fim de criar estruturas mais complexas. A Nanotecnologia tem sido considerada a peça central naquilo que os economistas denominam de quarta revolução Industrial, por destacar-se pela multidisciplinaridade, e se enquadrar no grupo das tecnologias convergentes, devido haver interação e combinação cooperativa entre diferentes áreas de conhecimento. Apesar de parecer uma tecnologia recente, é bem mais antiga do que se pode imaginar, a Nanotecnologia tem sido aplicada desde a Idade Média, porém os alquimistas que utilizavam estas nanopartículas não tinham o conhecimento do que se tratava e que seria estudada muitos anos depois. A partir da construção do Microscópio de Varredura por Tunelamento, que permitiu avaliar novas estruturas que não podiam ser analisadas devido às limitações tecnológicas da época. Recentemente a Nanotecnologia vem sendo disseminada pelo mundo todo, com promessas de uma melhor qualidade de vida e praticidade para o dia-a-dia do ser humano. No entanto, pouco é abordado a respeito dos perigos que nanotecnologia pode oferecer, tanto para a saúde do trabalhador, quanto do consumidor e também ao meio ambiente, devido aos diversos riscos globais que ultrapassam fronteiras. Sem mencionar da ausência de uma legislação científica, legal ou social específica eferente a Nanotecnologia no Brasil e no resto do mundo. O estudo visa fazer um levantamento bibliográfico das principais aplicações, riscos e perspectivas futuras da nanotecnologia no meio ambiente. As metodologias adotadas foram as ferramentas 5W2H com priorização GUT e QCA, com a finalidade de obter os dezesseis principais tópicos para a Revisão de Literatura. O resultado do estudo não tem a intenção de esgotar o assunto e sim por em evidências sobre: O recente e inédito pré-aprovado Projeto de Lei nº 880, que ainda é merecedor de algumas inclusões e alterações, a fim de contribuir exclusivamente para um cenário mais qualificado de um assunto de suma importância que é a Nanotecnologia. Os grandes riscos que os nanomateriais oferecem devido possuírem propriedades e comportamentos tão diversos que é impossível fazer uma avaliação genérica de seus danos à saúde e ao meio ambiente. A sociedade para ser mais participativa no processo que é praticamente nula até por desconhecimento sobre o tema Nanotecnologia. E por último ao descaso por parte do setor público referente aos poucos recursos destinados para os impactos da Nanotecnologia.
