Resumo: After the intensification of human activities, there was a significant increase in the generation of solid waste, and this, combined with incorrect disposal, has caused pollution in the environment. In this context, this work aimed to treat waste from cattle production with urban pruning, using the compost technique, transforming an environmental problem into a nutrient-rich soil conditioner. The development of composting was carried out in the city of Francisco Beltrão – PR. In the evaluation of the experiment, to verify the development of the composting process, analyzes of temperature, pH, water content, total solids and total organic carbon were carried out. After the end of composting, the compost obtained was qualitatively evaluated in the development of native seedlings of Allophylus edulis (vacum), for a period of 51 days, in different concentrations of compost, commercial substrate and soil, the treatments were distributed as follows: T1 : 100% soil; T2 – 25% compost and 75% soil; T3 – 10% compost and 90% soil; T4 - 50% compost and 50% soil; T5 - 5% compost 5% commercial substrate and 90% soil; T6 - 100% composite; and T7 - 100% commercial substrate. To evaluate the development of the seedlings, the phytomorphological characteristics, height of the aerial part, diameter of the stem, root dry mass and Dickson index were verified. From the mean values obtained, it was not possible to detect significant differences in height, diameter and Dickson Index for the evaluated treatments. This indicates that it was possible to obtain an inert compost from bovine waste and urban pruning, which provided performance similar to that of the commercial substrate when applied to Allophylus edulis seedlings.
