Currently, for an industry to remain competitive, it is essential to improve its entire production chain, with a view to lower operating costs. In this sense, the steam distribution lines performance becomes a relevant point. This work aims to analyze a steam distribution system in an automotive industry that has undergone several layout changes, and to propose a system resizing, in addition to presenting opportunities for improving the energy use. The process at this factory uses vulcanization ovens to form rubber hoses, in order to mold them with a metal mandrel, which gives the hose a specific shape to be used in automotive cooling systems. Results showed that the system's resizing promote significant improvements to the production process, which had its demand tripled due to appropriated selection of equipment and installations that could theoretically absorb its market needs. |
