Resumo: The need for a bioimpedance equipment that is practical, fast and non-invasive, when acquiring body composition indices, has grown in recent decades due to the importance of monitoring chronic diseases such as obesity and the development of athletes. In this project, a prototype was developed to measure electrical bioimpedance (capacity of the cell to resist electrical current), to measure body composition indices. These indices correspond to total body water, fat-free mass and fat mass. The methodology of this project was the use of a single frequency for data acquisition, where the sinusoidal current signal at a frequency of 50 kHz is applied to obtain the bioimpedance. Tests were performed using electrical models of human tissue. In the phase reading, the smallest error was 0.52% and the largest error was -31.4%. In the magnitude reading, a minimum error of -1.31% and a maximum of 15.68% was obtained.
