Resumo: Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune, rheumatic and chronic disease, in which its etiology is still somewhat unknown, being related to some genetic and environmental determinants that favor the development of the disease. Several clinical manifestations are caused by SLE, which manifest themselves heterogeneously among patients, in a recurrent-remitting manner, and result in a reduction in the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) of these individuals. Researches report that a detailed control of the disease could help to reduce the evolution of damage considered irreversible caused by SLE, in which physical exercise is an excellent strategy imposed by health professionals for the treatment of numerous chronic diseases. Considering this information, the objective of this systematic review is to synthesize the results of studies that analyzed the effects of physical exercise and physical fitness on the health-related quality of life of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus. The study is characterized as a research synthesis, developed in the electronic databases PubMed, Bireme, SciElo, Web of Science, Scopus, SportDiscus, PsychInfo, Embase and ScienceDirect. The results showed a consistent positive association between the increase in the scores of the domains physical aspects, vitality and mental health with the practice of physical exercise. The domains of social aspects, emotional aspects and general health status showed a positive suggestive association. The other domains did not change after the practice of physical exercise, indicating a neutral association. Therefore, it is concluded that there is a positive association between the practice of physical exercise and the improvement in the perception of HRQoL of people with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus in the domains physical aspects, vitality, mental health, general health status, social aspects and emotional aspects.
