Resumo: Bamboo is a sustainable material because it is a plant and has a low level of residues from planting to the end of its life cycle. In addition to this differential, bamboo can be applied as a structural element due to its excellent specific mechanical properties, which gives this material the possibility of being used as a core in composite materials. The work carried out had as objective the mechanical characterization of the honeycomb sandwich panel with inertial core using bamboo of the Bambusa tuldoides species. With the choice of the most appropriate standards for obtaining the data, specimens (PC) were produced for the compression tests according to ASTM C365 / 365M, flexion ASTM D7249 and shear ASTM C273. Mechanical strength was determined for each type of test and the influence of epoxy resin and castor resin applied to the sandwich panel was compared. As for the compressive strength, castor bean PCs resisted little more than those made of epoxy resin, due to the toughness of castor resin. For flexural strength, the PC made with castor resin were less resistant to flexion compared to epoxy resin. In the shear test, it was only possible to test the PCs with castor resin, as those with epoxy resin showed flaws during the beginning of the test.
